About Us & Bio
I started Off-Grid Capital Advisors LLC in 2018 to specialize in renewable energy project financing and solar project development. I have closed or structured over $54 million in transactions, helping commercial real estate (CRE) owners profitably build solar, energy efficiency & seismic retrofit projects and, where needed, helped them finance them with PACE bonds, power purchase agreements (PPA), operating leases and other sources of financing – including tax-exempt bond financings. I continue to represent the most aggressively priced PACE and PPA financing in the U.S.
As of May 2022, current renewable energy projects include two small solar farms (each) sized between 5 to 6 MW (megawatts), for which OGCA is helping to secure power off-takers and structuring other ways to enhance project profitability.

Off-Grid Capital Advisors also serves as a general real estate consultant, and since February 2021 has helped a Portland-based developer to acquire and convert eight (8) old, poorly performing motels to modern, micro-unit apartments (comprising 1,056 units) throughout the Pacific Northwest and Nevada. This involved performing all acquisition due diligence and predevelopment work to secure entitlements with the various municipalities to get the projects permit-ready and coordinating redevelopment efforts for a combined project (acquisition & redevelopment) budget of nearly $100 million.

Robert Johnson, Jr., President of Off-Grid Capital Advisors
Robert is a commercial real estate industry veteran with over 25 years of investment management, asset management and development experience.
Additionally, over the last several years he has worked on industry leading projects with several of the nation's largest commercial PACE platforms and financing firms as well as some of the largest solar contractors and energy engineering firms.
His real estate experience includes serving as a Portfolio Manager and Senior Vice President with AMB Capital Partners (now Prologis), where he ran private REIT funds exceeding $1 billion in capitalization; Head of Financial Management at ABKB Realty Advisors (now LaSalle Investment Management), where he ran the national analysts team that supported asset and portfolio management, as well as co-asset managed a large, national industrial portfolio, and Kenneth Leventhal & Company (now part of the Ernst & Young Real Estate Group), where he was a Manager in the consulting division and worked on prominent engagements such as the 1990s S&L crisis, Security Pacific-BofA bank merger and financial feasibility studies for master-planned communities and portfolio acquisition due diligence services for various investment banking firms.

He continues to serve as an advisor to Institutional Real Estate, Inc. (IREI) on sales and marketing strategy and implementation related to IREI’s real estate investment management conferences, focusing on pension funds, endowments, foundations and other institutional investor relations.
